Mowing Musings

Today was a beautiful day in Texas.  No wind, warm enough no coat, and of course that means “outside” for me.  A day of sunshine and animals.  It also means “cranking up the mower” and here we go with the “clover battle.”  However, this is not the first day of mowing, as we have been doing it since January.

As I was enjoying such a beautiful day, I did not forget to “thank God” for it.  I was telling Him how much I “enjoyed the sunshine.”  How wonderful it was to see “my first spring wild flower.”  A beautiful color of yellow.  I was telling Him, “I was so anticipating all the other beautiful flowers which are about to bloom, and how I could not wait for the trees to start blooming also.”  I was in “hog heaven” wherever that is?

I found myself truly ”lifting my face to the sunshine and feeling its warmth.”  When I did all of a sudden this Scripture came to my mind:

‘What can bring us happiness?’ many say, “Lift up the light of your face on us, O Lord.” (Psalms 4:6)

I realised that was exactly what God was doing, and I was so “happy.”

God Bless, SR

I have a handful of family and friends in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and my Daddy grew up in Lubbock. I wonder if you are near any of them. The sun has hidden its face from us down here in AL. Funny…we were in shorts and tshirts on Christmas day, we’ve had flowers blooming since the end of January, and now that it’s March, we get snow, lol. I will never get used to this weather.

      Hey Lyn,

Loved your post today! No the Dallas area is about 3 hours from me. I live in south central Texas. Well my wonderful weather lasted until last night. Cold front came through. Still have sunshine, but it is cold! I have been in shorts and fil-flops almost all winter. It has been a good one. Like I said, I saw one flower yesterday, but I know they are coming:>) Have a great weekend and God Bless, SR

I can’t believe you are mowing already! I look forward to those days and love the down to earth, simple, outdoor, sweaty work because that is where I so easily connect with God. It’s good to know the grass is starting to grow in some parts of the country. That’s a natural sign of hope for those of us who still have patches of snow on the ground (snowed just last night here, if fact).

Thanks for the warming post, and God bless!

      Hey Biltrix,

Have been mowing since the last two weeks of January. I love it though, even though I did not want it to start so early this year. I love outdoors and I as well as you “connect with God.” Hate you have snow, let me see………..do I remember what it looks like??? NOPE:>) I have not seen snow in years. An ice spell or two that lasted a day, but that has been it. You are welcome and thanks for comment. God Bless, SR
